Quarantine-free Online Courses Learning Experience

Hey everyone!

This June, I got the opportunity to finish 3 courses provided by Coursera.

The first one is "First Step Korean", which instructor was Kang Seung Hae, an Associate Professor from Yonsei University. This course improved my Korean, particularly in the speaking comprehension. I also learned some grammar, pronounciation, some new vocabularies, and famous culture of Korea. This course has helped me to understand spoken and written Korean more than I did before.

Second is “Chinese for Beginners”, the instructor was Professor Liu Xiaoyu, MD from Peking University. It was my first time to learn Chinese. I learned Hànyǔ Pīnyīn, the Romanization of the Chinese characters based on their pronunciation. For me, Pīnyīn is the easiest way to start learning Chinese. This course taught me how to say greetings, ask some daily life questions, and a bit of Chinese culture.

 

The third one is “Challenges of Global Health”, offered by Duke University. The Instructor, Dr. David Boyd is a phenomenal lecturer, he has a friendly personality and he could make the online class more enjoyable. The course taught me valuable informations about global health with a documentary style of teaching. I also got to know much from the doctors and scientists in the interview sessions. It exposed me to solutions for the global health issues and some future recommendations for better health system in the world.

The courses encouraged me to learn and do more, especially to understand foreign languages and to take part in the advancement of global health. I hope I will be able to keep the spirit and expand my knowledge to the fullest.
